Thankful Thursday

Today I'm thankful...

- that Huston definitely says "mama" and "dada". He's been doing it for a while now but I guess I officially counted it a couple weeks ago.

- that he says "mama" way more often and more clearly than "dada". ;)

- Huston has been so snuggly lately. He gives the best hugs!

- that his fourth tooth is almost through which means we're almost past this up 3 times a night business. Hopefully.

- I received a compliment at work for my leadership on a pilot program. I was not thankful it was followed up with more responsibility. That's what I get for volunteering?

- it's no longer -40*

- for Huston's new car seat! He's such a big boy. :)

- for Laura's blog. And jealous. Thankful and jealous. I can't compete!

- that the blocked duct business has packed up and left town. Finally.

- for a haircut. I've gotten so many compliments today! It's amazing how it can change your mood. Note to self: return the favor.

- for Huston's shoulder shrugs. I still can't get over the adorable-ness.

- for a fancy new grill. I can. not. wait. for the deliciousness that is to come!

- for some fun (in the sun?) this weekend! Glenwood, here we come!

- that you aren't mad I'm sharing a Thankful Thursday post on Friday.

Happy weekend, friends!

Oh, high school

Back by popular demand!

Recently in class, I heard myself say the following words for the second time in my teaching career: "You may NOT eat a cheeseburger in my class!" Seriously?!

One of my darlings takes forever to get his bellringer sheet out every day. When I called him out on it recently, he told me not to worry, that he was looking at the screen and analyzing the questions even though he didn't have anything written down. Of course this spurred a debate on his pronunciation of the word "anal-izing". You saw this coming, right?

We do oral participation points and recently a student shared that she celebrated her birthday over the weekend. I usually try to follow up with with a question or two. Turns out her favorite gift was a black Mercedes. Hmm.

Thankful Thursday

Today I'm thankful...

- for SPRING BREAK!!! I love love love being home with my boys and it's been a darn good week so far.. Of course I haven't gotten as much accomplished as I hoped, but on the other hand, Huston and I were in our jammies all day Wednesday. :)

- how happy Huston was to get home on Sunday. He was seriously bopping around from corner to corner checking everything out and playing with his long-lost toys!

- Huston's 3rd tooth finally poked through! It's been floating right there forever so I'm glad it's finally though.

- for baseball. Rob's love for the game is simply infectious! I'm giddy just thinking about Sunday Night Baseball.

- my Grandpa's surgery went well. Looks like a pretty long recovery, but he's doing pretty darn good all things considered

- for quality TV. Chrisley Knows Best is a new addition to our repertoire and it's terribly fantastic. Also, you may remember that we're a milion years old and love to watch Wheel of Fortune. We were pretty darn impressed when this happened earlier this week. PS we watched it before it blew up on the internets.

- for baby snuggles. Lately while we're playing on the floor, Huston will crawl over to me, turn himself around, and little spoon me for about 5 seconds. It's so sweet!

- that we got to spend some time at the Patterson's. It's hopefully a little preview of what summer will be like!!!

- for my dad's new office. It looks great and I'm so happy for him!

Spring Break: Kansas City Style

You guys, we had the BEST little trip to KC! The weather was perfect Friday and Saturday, we had lots of good food, family time, and left feeling rejuvenated. More importantly, our little nugget was an angel the whole time. As my Mom would say, What did you expect

We left around 6:30AM on Friday and headed to Rob's office. It worked out great since he could work for a couple hours, we could get adjusted, and cut our trip by at least 20 min. Huston and I killed some time by going to Whole Foods to get Rob a lemonade and myself a giant chocolate chip scone for the trip. Don't let this smirk fool you, he cried the whole way there and back!

I was glad I held off on feeding him until right before we left, though, because about 10 minutes after we took off, this was our backseat view:

He didn't wake up until about 10 minutes before we got to our hotel! Seriously. He's pretty great. We got checked in then headed out to the sunshine!

BTW, our hotel was awesome. It's by Town Center Plaza but on the North side which we never really explored. Lots of cute shops, restaurants, etc. I would definitely recommend it! Even though we were back in our old stomping grounds it really felt like a getaway.

Our favorite spot was this little astroturf courtyard area. Huston clearly enjoyed it too!

After some successful shopping, we bopped over to visit Kristen. It's always fun to catch up with friends, especially when they give you a snazzy new hat!

Is he up to something or what?!

From there we headed to dinner at Coach's which was perfect since we could watch the beginning of the KU game. He even sat in a booster like a big boy! Kudos to Rob for getting us a table and ordering while I fed him. It made our visit go even smoother.

After dinner we strolled around and even had some gelato. What a great day! Huston even went right to sleep in his pack and play. (exhale.)

After playing in bed then breakfast Saturday morning, we headed to the pool. I can NOT get over this pic:

I'm glad I snapped this next pic quickly because ... well ... he didn't love it.

After showering and a quick nap, it was time to head to Papa Keno's for lunch. Rob has been "Kael-ing" this pizza for months. :) Obviously it was delicious and obviously Huston played drop-it with everything he could get his hands on. Poor Alan.

From there our fun-filled weekend continued at the Plaza! I was again pretty successful (is spending money considered successful?) at shopping and getting Huston to nap. He fought it hard but finally dropped off. After chomping my apple, of course.

I know you're not going to believe this, but there was even more fun to be had: off to Tyler and Jena's! Huston had so much fun playing with some munchkins his own size and all sorts of new toys! It was so good to see them. :)

Saturday night we ... tried a new restaurant! Gasp. It was delicious and we got to sit outside! Swoon. Then we checked out the aquarium store (for the second time) and soaked up our last night in KC.

Sunday morning we tried the pool again and he definitely tolerated it this time. We got packed up, hit Johnny's on the way out of town, and took off. He was great on the way home and we made it all the way to WDM before we had to stop. Overall it was a great trip and it really made us miss living "down south". Until next time my friends!

Bonus pic! Yep, that's everything carried up all in one trip. Oh, Rob and his hidden talents.

Thankful Thursday

Today I'm thankful...

- for warmer weather!

- for an upcoming trip to KC. It may not be the biggest, baddest Spring Break of all time but it's just what we need!

- for the funniest little face Huston has been doing lately. He puckers his lips until they touch his nose, frowns his eyebrows, then breathes in hard. The other day I was in the next room and I could hear him making the face!

- for Huston's tricks. His best by far is shake, shake!

- for a coworker who turned a negative into a positive. Somehow me having a big mouth turned into, "I'm impressed how you stand up for yourself. You're not afraid to speak up." No I am not!

Thankful Thursday

Today I'm thankful...

- that I'm going to France next Spring Break! Our exchange trip was officially approved through the school board Monday night. Now to convince Rob...

- that my little Jaggie holds his own bottle. I'm sure he's been doing this or quite some time, I just never see him have a bottle since I'm still nursing. Lounging with him Friday afternoon was a real treat!

- for warmer temps in the forecast. Will we ever stop talking about the weather?

- my little babe is officially crawling. Everywhere. Into corners, under tables, behind doors.

- that my little babe is NOT walking yet! I'm just not ready for that.

- for a triple date Friday night with my seesters. Yippee!

- for a blast from the past. A coworker found a Fall Sports 2005 program in his things and passed it on to me. It was sitting out in my room and now one of my goofballs calls me Ms. Peter. Weird, but funny.

- for Rob's help around the house. He's seriously the best, you guys!

- for balloons.
